06. JYOTHI SEVA SOCIETY

1918年、ポーランドで、盲目の修道女によって創設されたフランシスコ修道女会の団体が母体の盲学校。バンガロールに同団体は創設されたのは、1991年のこと。当時は１軒家で、盲目の子どもたちのケアをしていた。2003年に現在の校舎が建てられ、日本でいう幼稚園から中学校までの子どもたちを受け入れ、教育する機関として生まれ変わった。中学を卒業した子どもたちは、郊外にある視覚障害者向けの職業訓練校に進むべく、進路が整えられている。ここに暮らす約80名の子どもたちは、みな貧困層の出自であり、無料で住まいと教育が提供されている。読み書きをはじめ、将来、自立していけるよう、体系的な教育が施されているようだ。また、音楽やダンスなどの情操教育も行われている。過去、ミューズ・クリエイションのメンバーが毎週ピアノを教えに通っていた時期もあった。また、元生徒の一人が、ミューズ・チャリティバザールでピアノ演奏を披露してくれたこともある。音楽の指導も望まれている。（2019年４月）

- The Jyothi Seva Society traces its Roots to Poland and blind Sister Elzbiet Roza Czacka, who started the Congregation of Franciscan Sisters Servants of the Cross, 1918 in Laski, Poland, exclusively for the service for the Blind.

- To care for the up-bringing , education and rehabilitation of visually impaired children.

- To assist the Blind/ multi-handicapped children, adults at Jyothi Seva live a healthy useful life, at home and later as responsible adults/ Professionals.
